What is a Roast Battle?

A Roast Battle is a comedy competition where two comedians take turns roasting each other with prepared jokes. The goal isn't to be cruel, it's to be the funniest.

Is the show suitable for everyone?

No. This is an R18 comedy event and may contain strong language and adult themes.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Door sales may be available if the event hasn't sold out. Booking in advance is recommended.

Can I heckle?

This is not recommended. Especially if you don't want to become the target of the roasters.

Who can enter?

The championship is open to comedians aged 18+ of all experience levels. Whether you're just starting out or a seasoned performer, we'd love to hear from you.

How are competitors selected?

Applications are reviewed by the organisers based on comedy experience, writing ability, stage presence, and availability. We are aiming to have a good mix of comedians, providing everyone with an opportunity but remember there are only 12 spots.

How is show formatted?

The competition will be run in a single elimination bracket (with a 3rd place playoff). All first round matches will be announced a couple weeks before the show.

A complete list of competitors will be sent out alongside the first round matches.

How does a roast battle work?

Two comedians face off going joke for joke. Battles will be a total of 8 minutes in length. A panel of judges decides who advances based on originality, writing, delivery, and audience response.

What kind of jokes are allowed?

Roast Battle celebrates sharp writing and clever comedy. Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory material aren't acceptable. Competitors are expected to roast in good spirit while respecting the event's code of conduct.
